2017 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

Opening weekend is always busy for any series and the Firestone Grand Prix was no exception. IndyCar and the Pirelli World Challenge kicked of their seasons in sunny, hot Florida.

Besides my usual clientele, I had the opportunity to back up Ignite Media's Al Arena shooting Pro Mazda, Indy Lights and USF2000. It was a crazy busy four days but a great time and a chance to be creative shooting for Mazda Motorsports.

Here are a few of the best of the weekend!

2017 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona

It was a 36 hour work day, with 12,361 shots to sort, but a great experience for my first 24 hour race. Check out my "Best of" gallery!

Sunset Photo Shoot With Richard Prince - Sebring 2016

While at the 12 Hours of Sebring, professional motorsports photographer, Richard Prince, let me tag along for a sunset shoot with Corvette. He's known for his amazing sunset shots and I urge you to check out his website.

It was quite the production...coordinating track time at the end of the day, amount of gear set up on track, getting the drivers (and cars) there with a limited window of light. Not to mention, working up against a very busy driver PR schedule. It was impressive and a lot of hard work even though he makes it look easy.

I snapped a few photos during the process. I learned a lot and got a kick out of watching the drivers with the new Corvette that GM was revealing that weekend. It was obvious that everyone there loved cars, especially the Corvette.

12 Hours of Sebring 2016

I'm excited to be shooting IMSA more this season. It's such a different dynamic covering endurance racing. It's a test in time management, looking for details on the story of racing as it's taking place through day and night. I like the freedom of the race. I can take more time and try new things, much different than shooting a 50 minute race.

This was my first 12 Hours of Sebring. I was fortunate to have photographer Bob Chapman, owner of Autosport Image, as my track guide. I was happy with the work overall and am looking forward to Long Beach. It's going to be a busy weekend with the Pirelli World Challenge, IMSA and IndyCar competing over three days.

You can see more images at North American Sports Car.
